FIA Founder Kenya Wiley presented at Public Knowledge’s Emerging Tech DC conference at the U.S. Capitol on Monday, May 7, where Wiley joined experts from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Twilio, and Baker Hostetler for an interactive panel discussion on the Internet of Things (IoT), data security and privacy. Wiley discussed the latest trends in connected fashion as well as legal, technical, and common-sense strategies for keeping customer data safe and secure.

When asked about equality and inclusion for advancing IoT, Wiley addressed the importance of ensuring that there are diverse stakeholders in decision-making roles throughout the IoT ecosystem — from designers and computer scientists to attorneys and policy experts focused on compliance and evolving standards. Wiley also discussed the expertise of FIA’s team in serving as a strategy lead for innovative platforms and initiatives — covering fashion, technology, legal compliance and public policy.

The Emerging Tech DC conference also included panel discussions on the future of 3D printing and artificial intelligence, followed by a showcase and reception at the Innovation House on Capitol Hill.
